In times of crisis and uncertainty, it is vital to know on whom to depend. Finding that constant in a storm of
change can help us all reach calmer seas safely.

The University of Mississippi Medical Center and its pediatric arm, Children’s of Mississippi, has been taking decisive action to keep the state’s families healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the outbreak has been in the news lately, know that the expansion of the state’s only children’s hospital and its services is progressing steadily and on schedule.

Children’s of Mississippi’s dedication to helping all children reach their full potential is that constant, unchanging mission, and during this pandemic, it is more vital than ever to have the best in pediatric care close to home.

Dr. Mary Taylor, our pediatrics chair, and I could not be prouder of how our medical team is managing this crisis and of the unity, professionalism and compassion they are showing in providing care. Just as our medical providers have stepped up to help patients during this time, our community has rallied around our Children’s of Mississippi family to provide food, equipment, monetary support, activities for our patients, and so much more.

Crises can often show us what truly matters. Our children and families are at the heart of all our concerns, and it is a comfort to know that, if needed, world-class medical care is ready when needed, right here in Mississippi. When this pandemic passes and we have facilities that match our world-class care, we will be even better prepared to treat our state’s children. We’re looking forward to seeing the rainbow after this storm, and the hope that this building will provide to generations of Mississippi families.

All of us at Children’s of Mississippi wish continued health and safety to you and those you hold dear, now and in the days ahead.

Sincerely,

Guy Giesecke, D.H.A.
